I am planning to visit London, UK with the family for a short trip during next month. Any suggestions for staying economically and tips for saving. Mainly if some one can suggest cheap place to stay, that really helps me.

Sorry ... I posted under wrong heading.

If you google for 'London Hotels" you'll come across websites similar to Orbitz and Expedia, offering good deals on hotels. It will all depend on your travel dates, where you want to stay, # of guests etc.

Back in 2001, I found a good deal thru one of these websites, close to the subway with continental b/fact incl. I remember paying £70 / day for a family of 4, and it was a decent hotel.

As regards travel & sightseeing, try the London Pass http://londonpass.com/

For travel within the city you could also consider the Travel card http://www.tfl.gov.uk/
