hi
I would be startin my undergrad degree at mcmaster this fall.I have enrolledinto the faculty of science and would opt genetics/med (offcourse tht depends on how well i perform).
I would be joining as an immigrant.
I would appreciate if someone cud shed light on the various options for scholarships for undergrad.
I know evry univ has their own specific scholarships for which u need to fulfilled the requirements listed by them.
but are there scholarships tht apply to all univs in ontario /all univs in canada..things like tht???
I am doing my undergrad in Vancouver but I can tell you some general options available to undergraduates.
1) Private Scholarships can be obtained after you have done a semester or two in the university. You can ask the financial advising department and see if they have a Private Scholarship form that you can fill out. To get the maximum amount of money you would need to have a high GPA.
2) You can try for Co-op programs and/or workstudy programs.
3) I don't think there are any scholarships that are available for the entire Province of Ontario. They have a federal aid form I believe called OSAP.
4) On-campus jobs are a great way for an undergrad to pay for expenses and tuition. Students make a lot of money on a hourly basis. On-campus jobs pay more than off-campus ones.
Hope this helps
