Hi everyone,

This is my first post to this forum..and a long one too!!!!Please bear with me..This is a wonderful site and hope to receive loads of reply :)

I am an Indian citizen - Software Engineer (1.5 to 2 yrs experience)and currently based in UK doing MBA.

As per the new immigration system, I qualify with the assumption of High proficiency in English (in all the 4 categories - Listen, Speak, Read, Write). I have not appeared for IELTS or TOEFL but was accepted for MBA in UK ,based on a personal interview and relevant work experience .My education has been in English medium throughout.

So here I shoot---

First

Is it advisable to apply for immigration based on the above facts ? I was told that the Immigration office will, in such cases, assume proficiency according to their judgement.

Second

Can anyone give me a rough idea about the duration of the immigration process, if applied from UK?In this regard, I would like to confirm whether I can apply from UK itself as I am on a student visa (Feb2003 to March 2004).

Third

Although I am married, I wish to apply for immigration only for myself for the time being. I am expecting my wife to join me later (by applying separately). Are there any problems associated with it ? Would appreciate comments in this regard.

Fourth

Is it possible to get jobs before applying for Immigration ? I mean, do the companies provide Work Permit and if yes, how difficult is it to obtain one - sitting here in UK ?

Fifth

How much amount do I need to show for Immigration purpose ?How much do I actually bring along with me when I first land in Canada ?

Sixth

How long will it take before I get a first white collared job ?

You can check your points online - there are many sites including passportcanada doing this. Your english sould not be a problem.

No idea - but I should not be quick. So if you think that you will get it before March 2004 - better check first. You can Question to our immigration expert in the "Immigration" section. In you case what will happen is, if you need to return to India after March 2004, your file will be transfered to India and you have to wait for 3 years!!

Many people doing this. Don't pay any fees for them, but once you get Visa you can pay their fees and it should be alright.

We have lots of discussion on that.. Try your luck from UK, but it is very difficult.
