I'm emigrating to Vancouver soon from the UK, I'm a mid 30's Punjbi Indian lad, (Yes, I'm allowed ot say Indian as Indians are from India we don't need to say East Indian , but I understand your viewpoint on this and the reason why you have to use the word 'East' regardless of how pathetic it sounds).

Anyway, back on subject! I've been to Canada a couple of times 2002&2003, and I can't get my head around the Indian youth, what's with your attitude? Do you think youz are niggas gangsters or something?

Well if so, can I let you into a little fact, you AINT black, your brown, stop wearing those gangster jeans that hang around your buts.

One thing I did notice when I visited was how spoiled the kids were, the parents were really spoiling them, in fact letting them get way with trashing their cars and laughing about it. WTF, if that happened in a UK Indian family there would be some serious ass whopping going on, actually it would nto happen due to the fact the we have far more respect for our elders than you guys.

Anyway, I'll glady listen to your comments or views on this, and by the way, don't think your all hard getting into gangs and carryign guns etc, as that's just for the black gangsters, get a reality check and remember what being Punjabi is all about.

Recently I heard the same statement from another Indian family who also immigrated from the UK. He was surprised at the attitude of not only kids but also Indian families in general.

IMO, it all depends on the family culture and the upbringing. I've got teens and their behaviour is still "Indian-ish". We still go to the Gurdwara every week, and to other Indian get-togethers. They speak Hindi/Punjabi and eat Indian food. Yes, they do listen to English music too.
