Dosa,

South African living standard seems to be better than that of most of cities in Canada. Look at Jo'burg, Pretoria, Cape Town, there are plenty of opportunities there itself.

Just my feeling, as I have lived in both the countries.

Regards.

I'm tired of seeing the circulation of bad information. If you want good advice and the truth, take a look!

What "new" information have you uncovered Das-FX?

All you have said in that thread, and in several other posts has been in the category of "been there done that" for almost all posters here. Resume writing? Soft skills? Adaptability? Attire? Communication? Everybody has heard all that so many many times that it sounds like and old broken record now!:D

The only "unusual" suggestion you have made is not to come here without a job.

Do you know how ridiculous it looks applying for jobs without being in the country where you are looking for one??

People here in person do not get jobs, and you are suggesting that people get a job before they come here?? Bwaahahaha!

Just curious to know what your line of work is? I thought you said you are a research scientist? What is the subject area of your research? To be a research scientist, I assume you must be having a PhD.

You also say you are 27. When did you finish your PhD?

I ask because you seem to have been to so many countries of the world and know so much that you find yourself so capable of making comparisons. I hope you were in those countries as something more than a passing tourist.

Just curious.

ThinkingOne,

In SA crime level is high and there is a so called affirmative action so to find an ideal job would be diffcult. I am an accountant by profession currently working in Mozambique for South Afircan company i dont see myself staying in afirca for long and i already have my permanent residence Visa. i am not married yet i think relocating will be simpler as opposed to people with family.

I don't understand one thing....people on this site keep telling other people who are planning for their immigration or study to keep away...right?? Well if there is so much of a problem what are you doing here? Did the realisation of “not so easy” life and the actual facts related to job difficulties suddenly crop up in ur heads??? Didn’t you guys do proper research and ur homework before thinking of taking such a big step of leaving ur old jobs and coming here??? “Canada sucks, this sucks, that sucks” well….if so many things suck…you see the door don’t you?? Out you go! Some guys here are making even the people with positive thinking go week. Well if you didn’t make it what guarantee you have that other people who are new won’t be able to make it as well?? For eg: in one of the thread a person asked how are the job prospects of an accountant there, and one the stupid desi from the forum responded “ oh don’t even think of it, I have a friend who has the same qualification and is delivering pizzas here now” ….!!! So you mean to say the poor guy who asked the question for sure will deliver pizzas as well??? huh??
I’m not asking you to paint a very rosy picture either, you can tell the pros and cons in a much mature way. But such big decision should be left on people who are planning for their immigration, please don’t try and let you experiences influence others.
