Million Lira question still stands there - Who's "Somvar"
Quote:I think it should be a million lira question because it is worth nothing when compared to the CAD or even the EUR, which is worth a lot more

And BTW, should'nt be a "million euro" question?

I left India in Sep 2002 and since then I haven't been there but the Filmfare magazines and other such stuff that I check out shows that a LOT has changed. New actors, new actresses, the movie songs that are coming seem a little too cliched for my taste. It was only Veer Zaara, Tere Naam, Murder, Khakhee, Main Hoon Na's songs that I liked otherwise, the songs seem to have gotten quite different. And talking of vulagrity, I think after Jism, the whole concept of a little-bit-of-immorality-is-not-bad kind of age has set in and is zooming in on the Bollywood forefront. The slicker, newer, hipper and sexier generation is riding along this wave, so I guess this is yet another phase!!

People always say Ekta Kapoor comes out with trashy serials but is it her fault? She is a business woman. Her company is listed on the stock exchange. I think she is a fantastic business woman. She reads the pulse of the people and gives them what they want. Let the people who watch these saas-bahu nonsense stop watching them and Ekta will stop making them. It's simple as that. Despite the public demand for saas-bahu crap, Ekta still attempted something different sometimes. Example is Kkusum. The serial started off as the ads claimed it would be. A story about a ordinary girls life which was going to work, struggling at her work place, travelling in mumbai trains etc. Guess what happened? the show flopped. Ekta brought in the cliches. Rich guy falls in love marries kkusum. Next day she is moving around in mercedes with the usual saas-bahu crap happening in the house, extra marital affairs and what not. Guess what happens? the show takes off and becomes a block-buster! People in india want this crap and ekta is giving it to them. simple market dynamics.
