yes in terms of meeting people etc you really cant beat an international MBA its just a totally different experience in terms of non salary issues.

however these days the job at the end is not guaranteed. and its 2 yrs of time as well in North America. There are too many MBA's out there anyway in North America.

so thats the tradeoff: a different experience vs a tough job market even for top school grads

depends on where you want to work after the MBA. If its NorthAmer then go for it but if its india then the institutes mentioned are the best gateway. and they provide an opportunity to other countries as well in Europe or so.

If you are hell bent on doing an MBA then just get your immigration come down here and see it for your self how everything is and make a sound decision. Taking advice from others is a very good idea, but it is you who actually knows the potential inside you so it is entirely upto you, Hardships are plenty if you start on a wrong foot but at the same time if you make a decent start then there will be no stopping.

The other thing, after I finished my bachelors here I wanted to do an MBA but people who I was working with advised me against it and said that MBA is not just gettting a degree but also a gateway to network with the big players who are studying part time with years of experience behind them and doing on the company's money and time. I would think you have enough experience to understand all that and network with people and may be even land up with a job...but you being a new immigrant just starting your MBA and also trying to adapt to the canadian culture would have a difficult time fitting in with all those peopleand it will be a little overwhelming; so I would suggest do the no pay- work leave thing in the beginning start up with a job that you lke and then after a yearor so when you think you are comfortable enough to start an odd conversation with any stranger and get to connect a little and when people dont say Excuse me or pardon me or come again or sorry say that again, you will know your accent is good enough for people to understand and you should be fine afterwards. Coz a lot of times it doesnt matter what you know but what you make people think you know.

I have seen from a lot of posts here the perception is that being a canadian is all about drinking beers and doing marijuana and banging the next chic on the block in short dirty scum bags who live on welfare with no morals and culture. Which is not entirely false but exaggerated to a great extent. As far as I know an MBA guy from here is well respected if he knows what he is talking about .......you get that extra respect coz it is an expensive and difficult degree to get.

Anyways Good Luck

Looks good.

In all this discussion do not forget that it is YOU and not the surroundings that matter.

Wherever you go, you will succeed.

India / Canada is not the issue.

You are the motive power. :)

Your destiny may lie in one country or the other or across a number of countries.

Best of luck.

Hi Lombard,
We would appreciate if u share your vies and experience on on going basis after u join MBA.

My take:
In Canada it does not matter what you know, it is whom u know matters. Suck up to yr professors/experienced collegues and u may land a good job or else u will be like me with all kinds of professional degrees and no job.

Also try to improve yr accent. They make big deal about that. I understand that India, because of call centres, has some very good coaching classes which teach u North American accents. Learn that before u come.

I do not know yr marital status. If u r unmarried, u have got a chance to bang some white chik who will also help in securing good job! (That is bonus!) and connections.

Thanks
