Hi,
My company has branch offices in Canada and USA and India. Now that i have my landing papers/visa i am going to ask my boss if i can get transferred to some other position in Canada.
Our company being predominantly US there are more open oppurtuinities in US.
So will i violate residentship requirement..if i am offered a job from our branch in Canada and actually permanantly work out of the US office.
I mean after working for 5 yrs in Us can i be denied extension of my PR. The law states something to the effect that if u r on a payroll of a Canadian business and they send u aborad u dont violate residentship criteria. My company is mostly US based but has a registered office in Canda and have around atleast 100 employees in Canda in atleast 3-4 branches...unfortunately no technie work goes on there so i would not be able to get a job there (will be very tough) but if i convince my manager to put me on payroll of one of the branches in canada can i work in us where a lot of techie work goes on...
thanks,
natehc

Try overtaking child's imagination
To be frank i just got my VISA and landing papers today...am on leave till Wed...have a meeting with my boss in first weeek of March so i am thinking on what to say.
I dont think my indian immigration agency will be able to say anything..its a different aspect of law that we are talking about
Also does a Canadian PR need a H1 or a L1 to work in US. are there limits on thesequotas like we have in India? If a company in canda wants to send me to US how difficult it will be for me to get a visa? What kind of visa will it me? Does the NAFTA entail unlimited movement of professionals across US and Canada?
Is there any government agency which can anwer these questions for sure?

What kind of visa will it me?
-- Nafta is for cdn citizens and not PR 's
Does the NAFTA entail unlimited movement of professionals across US and Canada?
-- No , but free movement does not include working in USA . They have a seperate TN for cdn citizens for that

I might be wrong.......but why do I get a feeling from your posts that you are already in Canada? Your questions seem to be more Canadianised than Indian type!!!
It is just a feeling.......I cannot define it.
