In any case, I didn't think it was put up as religious propaganda, rather someone trying to be funny.

I did not say that it was put up for religious propaganda.

At the same time, there's a common-sense approach we have to take in allowing or disallowing these things.

That is one sense that is most uncommon. Else the world would have been a much better place to live in.

If someone sends a nice pic. of a temple or a church or a mosque, we won't disallow it.

Well you are moderators and thus effectively in charge of deciding what is ok or not ok. I was under the impression that "Pic of the day" implies that there is something worth appreciating in it. It could be a beautiful scene, a natural view, some exotic bird etc, you know something special that one can admire about it. I don't think this particular picture has any of those qualities.
All I am trying to say is that issues like religion etc are very sensitive and there is ample evidence of it all around that they do not conform to the rules of "common sense" as you seem to expect. No harm being a trifle extra cautious. There is no loss that the people here will suffer if such pics are avoided.

Nice...So, after so many posts, looks like u've found this forum to be religiously biased ?

U've turned a petty issue into a topic of religious in-tolerance.

:p bison

You seem to have missed the point. I did not say that I have found this forum to be religiously biased. Instead, what I said is that posting such pics sends signals that there is an element of religion on this board. Impressions may not always be correct and there is a chance of misinterpretation in this particular case.

Er...off the topic may I ask? Any particular reason you have chosen to use that "stick out tongue" smiley in your sig? Do you that to people? Just asking. :D

I don't think it is appropriate to display pictures of Gods or symbols of any religion on the board!
I don't think I need to explain why!!
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The conditions for uploading pictures as mentioned on CD are:

"You can upload pictures about Canada, Places, Nature etc. No personal pictures please. The supported formats are only JPEG and JPG"

You are right DTC, the picture does not belong to the allowed categories mentioned on CD. I second your opinion. We dont want to have a religous debate starting here.

What religious debate ???????

Oh c'mon .... it is just a picture .... an expression , and , that is what it is. Why do we desi's have to make an issue out of everything.

If someone wants to express thru a photo ..... within the guidelines .... let him be .....

No one should be offended with or without such photos...... but then again ... everyone is entitled to their opinion ( Freedom of Speech) .... guess I am entitled to my 2 cents.

You both raised a valid point. If members smell something offending in the link I provided than why this pic should be allowed on front of the board.? No excuse pls. Everybody should be treated equally. No double standard.
