After quite some time a serious attempt @ film making brilliantly executed !!
Professionalism and nothing else by the director Ritu purno Ghosh and performers Ajay Devgan & Ashwarya Rai both wud b contenders 4 the National Award .
No dance sequences , out doors , overseas glamour not even family drama ........... still the movie rivets u till the end .............with pure and clean performance and nothing else ......... looks more like a one-act play (ekaanki ) . Ashwarya Rai has outperformed herself and Ajay Devgan is a reckoning force for sure . Parallel cinema.
Thats what I called excellent direction & performance . Not even a single shot wasted but 1 needs 2 b a serious movie buff 2 enjoy the treat . Watch it !!!!

Manasvi..u gotta be joking...CBCD's who cannot comprehend bollywood beyond Shuh-ruk Khan ../.and Ash-wuh-riya Raye (and even cant appreciate a movie without the qualities posted by BlueLobster in another thread)..u expect them to watch and enjoy this movie

This aint meant for evry1 . Certainly not for commercial cinema goers . I was surprised 2 read two totally opposite reviews on the film . Anyways for serious appreciating viewers its still a treat .

Manasvi yeah... finally there are some "Indian" film makers who are making films for RI's (Required Indians) and not NRI's ( Non-resident Indians)...
Subhash ghai once said, contemptously.."these days I make films only for NRI's"..I guess Yaadien taught him a lesson...
I hope ppl watch this film and like it for what it really is... We really need a revival of parallel cinema.. I still enjoy those movies of the 70s and 80s (Chasme Buddoor being one of them)...
I also wonder something.. There are so many famous Indian authors..why cant their novels be adapted for the big screen ? Devdas was an exception, as it was a tried and tested formula...

I am also convinced that Indian literature is no less than any other only unrecognized -- y film makers take on 2 the oft repeated Hollywood flicks may bear and explanation in the fact that the lack of commercial success scares them 2 try smthing new n original .
Theres a difference b/w an artist and a professional . An artist doesnt sell his art -- how less movies has Om Puri performed in but has made an indelible mark on indian cinema .
