judging(admittedly without an indepth analysis) by the subjects in the article, they seem to have gone through a lot to stay together. Wonder if they would put themselves through all the trouble if it was something that they did not feel so strongly about and was not an integral part of their existence.

Also note that they do not seem to fit in the mold of the urban elite hipsters of India and so i guess we can discount the 'decadent influence of western values'(as the moral police would suggest) as a reason for their choices.
