Hi All,
Here is my situation. I came here in Toronto 3 months ago with IT degree from the states. I'm still on the job market looking for opportunities. I've got a very good offer from abroad. I do want to become Canadian citizen ASAP. I know that I suppose to live here for 3 years out of 5 years period to be eligible to apply for a citizenship.
Here is my question. Someone told me that if I register my own consulting firm here in Ontario I can use my business as my emloyer abroad and pay my taxes. Becuase I will be working for a Canadian company abroad my days outside of Canada would not affect my ability to apply for a Canadian citizenship after 3 years. Is this true?
Thanks
Luvsans
Nope
1) For citizenship you have to be physically in Canada for 3 out of 4 years .

We will find a way or we will make one
the "employed overseas by canadian business" exception is for meeting residency requirement for pr status, and not for citizenship... citizenship requires physical presence...
ps.. what you are proposing wont work even for maintaining pr, as this business you are intending to establish is exclusively for immigration purpose, which is excluded from list of eligible businesses...
