Hi ,
I am from Alberta . I want to visit Toronto with my wife and 4 year old daughter . I am planning to spend 1 week in Toronto and surroundings . Please guide me to plan my tour where I can visit with family , I am not looking for anything too strenuous.
Thanks.

Take a TTC Weekly Pass or TTC Day Pass . Unlimited travel on both the TTC buses and Subway. Best way to travel in Toronto.

Driving or renting a car is too bad and stressful. Traffic is a nightmare, Parking is ridiculously expensive, Summer road construction and road blocks everywhere, road rage and extremely rude and aggressive drivers everywhere.

Children under 12 travel for free on TTC, so need for a pass or tickets for them.

Just seeing Toronto is enough, nothing to see in the suburbs of Toronto like Mississauga, Brampton, Markham,Ajax, Pickering, Oakville etc.

You can do the mandatory and customary trip to Niagara Falls too from Toronto, if you want.

150 Km from Toronto to Niagara Falls, 1.5 hrs drive. Lot of daily and tourist buses to take there.

Some things to see in Toronto :

1. CN Tower ( A bit boring and expensive, but people like to go up anyways )
2. Royal Ontario Museum. ( Worth it ). On certain day of the week its free, so go on that day.
3. Art Gallery of Ontario - AGO ( Worth it )
4. Toronto Zoo - Good but like any other zoo.
5. Ripleys Aquarium Museum - Again expensive but White people go anyways.
6. Casa Loma Castle
7. Toronto Centre Island - Take a ferry to go there. Nice beach & Parks.
8. Canadas Wonderland - Amusement Park - Lot of rides and roller coaster etc.
9. Ontario Science Centre
10. Distillery district, St. Lawrence Market

You get a City Attractions Pass, which makes seeing some of the above things cheaper.(See link below for the pass )

http://www.citypass.com/toronto

Budget at least $ 1,000 for the 3 of you for sight seeing, public transport and food.

$ 1,000 does not include accommodation in Toronto or Calgary to Toronto travel cost like plane tickets. Just food, public transport ( no taxis ) and some sight seeing.

The city is actually quite dull and boring. I am embarrassed when visitors from outside come, not much to do or see. Compared to other big cities in North America & Europe.

If you are coming here to see some family and friends in addition to sightseeing only then come here to Toronto for 7 days. Otherwise don't bother, you will waste your money. Much better cities to see in North America.

If you don't have accommodation, some Cheap Desi in GTA will be more than happy to give you accommodation for 7 days and even pick you up from the airport, if you throw some money on his face.

As always CD's can rely on me to get the truth & reality on the ground.

Montreal - 5-6 hrs drive. Take a halt in Kingston and see Thousand Islands.

Ottawa- Capital. Nice city & Capital worth visiting. 4.5 hrs drive

If you want USA - New York , Chicago also not that far from Toronto. 8- hrs drive.

Detroit - Only 4-5 hrs drive, but city is Ghetto.

People even visit Washington DC and Boston from Toronto. Almost 10 hrs drive.

You can easily do Toronto & Montreal in 7 days.

Or Toronto & New York in 7 days.

Anything more than 2 cities in 7 days the quality will go down and will be hectic. It will be more quantity and less quality.

Don't forget to add these two places:

Toronto : Wassaga beach & Blue Mountain

Montreal: Quebec City and Mont Tremblant
