The movie was good and 'hatkey'. All in all on Punjab's drug issue. No unnecessary romance and songs/music. It was right on track from start to finish.
Without any spoilers, here are some salient points:
1. Gripping from start to finish. A sort of episodic tied with a common thread.
2. Songs never hamper the story, rather carry it along.
3. Powerful dialogues, dark, gritty, and a powerful thriller - unlike (at least) I have seen in Bollywood in recent times.
4. Each cast, including the ones with a few minutes of scenes stole the show.
5. Full of Hindi/Punjabi expletives (BC, MC types) - don't take your kids along.
6. Background score: top notch.
7. Acting review:
Alia - top notch,
Shahid - another feather after Haider,
Prabhjyot Singh - Can't differentiate between how he may be in a real life and the act of a drug addict,
Diljeet Dosanjh - very good. A natural actor, and intensity to watch out for. His Bollywood career might take off with this one,
Satish Kaushik - in a best form after a long time.
Harpreet Singh - Very good. Right emotions and anger,
Last but not the least, Kareena Kapoor, who I found somehow lacked the energy and right emotions - unnecessary shades of Geet from Jab We Met.
8. Again, would like to mention Alia's acting, her mannerisms, dialogue delivery, the 'Bihari' accent, body language, and intensity were unmatched right from the word go. She did fantastic and surpassed everything what we have seen her in so far. Yes, even her last best 'Highway'.
Bottom-line: Go for it and watch it in Theater. You absolutely WON'T enjoy it on TV, that too the Pirated copy.
I would probably go and watch again.
Thanks FP, will try to watch it this weekend at theater.
