Watched 3 movies this weekend, enjoyed all 3! Talvar, Drishyam and Masaan

Sharing the names with folks here as these are movies with little publicity, low visibility but cover real topics or provide great entertainment for those who are looking for something beyond the usual Bollywood glamor stuff.

Talvar - A true story, Noida 2008. Don't google before watching, there is a great risk of spoiling the fun!

Drishyam - Suspense throughout, you won't pause till you complete the movie.

Masaan - Covers some real issues in India. Bit slow but full of great messages.

Hoping others can share some names of similar or better Indian movies. I really loved Johnny Gaddar, still waiting for someone to recommend me a similar movie.

Thanks for sharing G13 ... I have watched 2 of these - Drishyam (Ajay Devgn) & now watching the original by Mohan Lal ( with subtitles of course ) :)

Masaan ( Fly away solo ) was India's entry to International Festival .... Adult movie ( and theme ) ... very meaningful film and excellent performances esp Richa Chadha.

Thanks for sharing Talvar ..Will watch it next ...

Off late some other good movies I have watched & would recommend are :

a. Jolly LLB
b. Dum laga ke Haisha
c. Ankhon Dekhi
d. Vishwaroopam
e. Tanu weds Manu returns
f. Bahubali

Johny Gaddar has been on my favorite list for the longest time .

Drishyam does keep you at the edge of your seats and has made to my fav list as well . Issue depicted is another burning issue currently which keeps many parents awake and there have been many suicides .

Masaan : Started watching just to realize that we have to wait till Kids go away to university :D.

Currently "MAX' is the movie that can be watched with kids and whole family will enjoy it .

Try these offbeats as well - in that order of preference:

Titli (top on my list)
Qissa
Court
Manjhi - The Mountain Man
Jazbaa

Fido and febreet - thanks for sharing names of movies. I just completed reading reviews and ratings for all of them. Will select a few for holiday break viewing.

Ashwani - how can I even forget I watched Johnny Gaddar few years ago on your recco. thanks again! craving for part II badly. :-)

San hugo - you are right it is hard to find time - I get a chance to do this movie marathon once a while. I haven't watched many movies in the past 2 years though..
