OPT and CPT are new concepts to the current educational system here in Canada. But it is slowly catching on. In Britain, they used to have Sandwich Courses for trainees. Work part time and study after the work in the evening.
In Vocational schools (Colleges here) and in a few Co-Op courses they are currently offering this feature to a few Local Canadian Students here in Canada. But I still do not know the nature of the courses and the work that they do from home. You can explore by contacting a few of the universities that offer such a course.
FH.
I see, thanks for the help.
I would say it is not really worth to study from a community college here unless you have some really solid work experience in India and your past experience , your education and your future work (which you plan to find) align with each other. The other problem in studying in Community college is firstly the quality of students is not great, getting admission is easy which is why it results in poor student quality.
Another problem here is Permanent residency. Students who study in community college i.e. go for a course which does not give you Master's degree are not eligible for PR under PNP Ontario. If they don't get a job after their course (I see lot of students not getting job) they go to other provinces like Manitoba or any other province which has little relaxed criteria for PNP. But regardless getting job is important. If some one does Master's course in Ontario, getting PR is assured.
So I would encourage students not to choose shortcuts by meeting consultants in India who can get admission in community colleges. Such students don't want to study, don't have good academics back in India and are looking for job in Canada from Day 1 without even wanting to study. Such students struggle a lot and only some of them succeed. THe others even if they manage to stay here do labour jobs, minimum wage jobs with no sight on getting meaningful jobs.
So come to Canada as a student only if you have aptitude and desire to study. Often students who come to Canada to community colleges are students who don't get admission to any university college there and think that "KANNEDA JAAKE DOLLAR KAMA LENGE".
