Dear friends,

I intend to join a bridging program which requires me to have a CLBA 8,8,7,7 min. I had acquired IELS 7 band while applying for immigration but they are not accepting IELTS. Can someone suggest me some good sites or attach links which can help me prepare the exam. Also please tell that like IELTS, can i re-do the CLBA anytime if i fail to secure the required scores in the first attempt.
Thanks

I could have said a lot of things here and all of my vocabulary of expressions would have poured out by the tonnes here. That being said, I want to guide you to a path that would simplify the matter at hand and get you out of this predicament that you are in. But you will have to follow it up to a TEE and do it neatly and go and stand in their offices and get it completed. That is your assignment.

Here are the links to a few of the websites. Please go through them. Make your own notes and also make the required calls. Establish a contact at the assessing end. Make an appointment if necessary. Carry all of the documents that you have on with you when you visit them and get a CLBA Equivalency Certificate, IF they are issuing you one at that location.

AND

Good Luck.

FH.
Here is a conversion and equivalency chart, from IELTS..:
http://www.ieltsessentials.com/results/ielts_for_canada.aspx

It is here that you go to get it done. Their website. :
http://www.cicic.ca/1374/obtain-an-academic-credential-assessment-for-general-purposes/index.canada

Here is their address. Contact them first. Take down a name. Make an appointment if they are willing to do. Then go there early enough and get everything done, while you are there. PLEASE do carry all of your educational qualifications and experience certificates etc., and complete your work there. Get all of the ORIGINALS and all of the papers back home.
http://www.cicic.ca/1374/obtain-an-academic-credential-assessment-for-general-purposes/index.canada
Their address in Ontario and few of the contact details.
Canadian Information Centre for International Credentials (CICIC)
95, St. Clair Avenue West, Suite 1106
Toronto (Ontario) M4V 1N6 Canada
Telephone : (+1) 416-962-9725
Fax : (+1) 416-962-2800

PanCanadian. :

You don't need this, but will give it to you anyway. :

The education that you might require could be all free as an Immigrant. ESL etc.,

Dear FH, thanks for sharing pretty useful stuff. But the link you said i dont require now is the one which is going to be of great help for my oncoming CLBA test and i was in need of such a material. I had aso googled a lot but unlike IELTS, i could hardly find any pertinent material available for CLBA preparation.
Also i have noticed in your reply that you gave me very useful links on credential assessment, etc ! may i ask what made you share that stuff with me while i didnt ask for it. just curious..!! again i dont say that i dont need them or they are totally irrelevant for me, but just that i was not in need of them at the moment :)
thanks anyways.

If you have an equivalency of IELTS for your CLBA requirements, especially for an N.O.C Job Number, you should try and qualify for it with a Certificate from CICIC. That will eliminate the requirements for a bridge course that you want to take. Hence the link to their website.

Now for the CLBA exam. Please check and see if this information helps. Also explore the link. They are equal to the CBLA, here in Canada.

EDIT.: Please check this too.

Dear FH, The link you shared is quite an advanced assessment test mainly meant for immigration or academic purposes, more or less like IELTS. The one i have been asked for is neither a requirement of any employer nor any university or college. It is just a bridging program requirement and that's all. And the bridging program i am after is very beneficial for me. It covers a lot of areas that i need the knowledge of to be able to work in my profession in Canada. It also contains software skills enhancement lessons at recognized universities / colleges. It is government funded, free of cost plus we will be provided with transportation charges for attending the program. thanks for your help anyways.
