Hi,
I have had it with this cold weather. I don't see myself staying in Canada for too long.
I am thinking of moving to somewhere warmer in the US. It is still early but I have started thinking about it seriously.
1. Can a Canadian citizen stay in the US for a long time without a US citizenship, on a work visa or something?
2. Do you know anyone that has done something like this?
Any other thoughts are welcome as well.
Thanks.
Looks like, this year has been proved to be quite gruesome for GTA'ians. . So many people want to desert the center of the universe. You're the 3rd or 4th from this forum.
Yes, you can live in US for long without the US Citizenship, provided you have a job offer from US. This will enable you to migrate there on 'TN' visa. The visa is a variant of the traditional H1B, but for the citizens from NAFTA (North American Free Trade Agreement. Look it up on Google) countries. Search the forums here, and it's already been discussed to death.
Or, for the lack of it, move out West to the warmer Vancouver (Sorry, for going overboard on Vancouver. I realize it's getting too much before someone points it out to me).

This is common topic by this time of year in Canada and then comes the spring..
US option has its own challenges , specially if your spouse is working or have good set of friends here, or kids are about to start college or you are yet to qualify for OAS partial Canadian pension apart from other relocation challenges.
Many Canadians take vacation and go south during this time.
