Does anyone know how to obtain PAN CARD , I am in mississauga, I have OCI card, I see many internet site claiming to get by charging, I do not trust, being an NRI we have to provid our id & residence proof and to get it attested by indian embassay, I want to avoid visiting consulate and harassment.
If someone has obtain PAN card, please advise

Lot of us plan and get most of requirements done when we visit out home country and take care of it there on that holiday. If you are not in a hurry, then you can get things ready and complete them after landing there. Include the PAN card also into it.
Here are some details that you can use to get started. It only costs about 106 rupees or so if you do it yourself. If you tackle it from here it will cost you a thousand. Sounds large. But the costs are due to the Couriering and they use the best.

AFAIK, it's Rs 105 for Indian residents, for NRI's it's Rs 971 irrespective of where you apply from, unless an NRI shows a local document as proof of address and applies as a Indian resident.

I was a Canadian citizen but showed my local address in India. I applied from Canada. I got the Indian rate while the PAN was posted to my local address.
So you can try that route and save the odd 850 Rs or so. This was in 2011 March.
