Hi Folks,
First off, thanks in advance for reading. My wife's interested in pursuing post grad studies in Canada. We applied to a bunch of colleges and she recently received an acceptance letter from seneca. She's also applied to other colleges but is still awaiting to hear from them.
Now here's the tricky part. Both of us live and work in Japan. I am wondering if we should wait for an acknowledgement from other colleges before applying for a visa or should we go ahead and apply for a student visa on seneca's acceptance letter. Would it be possible to change our college preference later (while CIC's still processing our visa).
The reason for my urgency is that my work permit expires in 3 months (I've been living here for over a year) and would ideally like to apply for the student visa while we are in Japan. Would you rather that I return back to India and apply from there or is applying from Japan a good idea?
*I am applying for an open work permit along with her application
You can apply after your return to India.
Canadian government would be more convinced that you will come back after studies are over.
Your abroad stay ( japan) will be a definite plus point.
You can always change the college ..... no problem.
Hi Gurram,
Thanks for the reply. Another reason for us to apply in Japan was the fact that both of us had jobs and if we were to head back home, we would be unemployed at the stage of application. Do you reckon its a fair plan still? I was also wondering if it would be a good idea to apply online in Japan but provide the Indian mailing address so that if/when there is a communication or paperwork from the CIC, it would be diverted to our Indian address. Japan does not have a Canadian Embassy so even if we were to give an interview, we'd anyway have to travel to Philippines to do so.
Although I wonder if its any consolation but I've studied and lived in Canada and Singapore before.
Thanks again for the read.
SENECA COLLEGE WILL ONLY PROVIDE YOU WTH A DIPLOMA AND NOT A POST GRADUATE DEGREE, Please check and see if that is what you want....
