There is some water dripping from the ceiling of my shower cubicle that has chipped off the paint. The leakage is not constant - it happens only sometimes during the week.
I called my super. When he came to look, there was no leakage and dripping. He could not find the source of leak from upper unit.
When I contacted my condo management, they mentioned as there is no active leak, they are not responsible for fixing the damage.
The damage to my bathroom ceiling is gradual. What should I do? Should I contact my insurance company?
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks
SAVE WATER. SHOWER WITH A FRIEND.
First and foremost, create a Paper Trail. Since you just noticed and reported the matter to the Super and the Condominium Corporation (of that building) you are way ahead of the game. Screw the ten bucks for the Registered letter. Now you have proof of reporting. Keep a copy.
Mention the date and time and the inspection and what they said etc., in that letter in a chronological manner. Go as far back as you can at which time you reported.
There are sleuths with meters that detect the moisture, wetness and water content with scans and pictures to record the conditions in the ceiling or the roof and you can ask him to provide you with a report. But do it when it is leaking and call him while it is in progress. So contact a few and keep them on a short notice. Get their fees also.
It will not be long before your upstairs resident will be in your bathroom. This wetness could get worse and the whole roof could collapse. If I were you I will rig up a camera on a tripod to monitor the leak and of course the arrival of Brutus or a princess through the roof.
If you perchance have another bath to shower to use, then do so and avoid using the one with the leak. You will have more chances of catching up with the leak.
when this happened in a rented place, not mine, I asked the friend to stick a sign on the Bath room door. "DO NOT USE THIS SHOWER". And if you do not like this kind of sign, I will provide you with my latest. "Save water SHOWER WITH A FRIEND."

There is no problem like such in my RTM home. They are much durable than modular homes and condos.
They are also bigger than both these 2 houses.
William I am sure that you are one of those who take plumber with them in exams since paper leaked .
