As if the World-Cup Victory was the ultimate peak of Cricket's popularity, there has been a steady decline in the viewer base.
That has been largely due to Mahendra Dhoni who kept loosing to almost every series India played after that.
Normally Australia and India matches were becoming talk of Desi population, but even that is also missing.
Great to see people not mad after this time consuming game.

Hurat Honani Murat!
There's so much of Cricket now a days that it's hard to keep track of all the tournaments, matches, players, etc. It's in abundance now. Everyday, there're tournaments, matches, leagues of some kind happening somewhere in India. I believe they should move to the 'Seasonal' format of the game, just like NHL here in NA. At least, the anticipation would build up some interest back to the game. Otherwise, in the long run brand 'Cricket' will diminish eventually.
In earlier times, it's the anticipation only that used to keep people glued to their TV sets, radios commentories, and newspaper columns. When there were only about 2-3 tournaments in an year. Players were more robust and the ads weren't taking the game out.
I used to be an avid fan of Cricket, but now with so much happening I couldn't keep track of the players - coming in and going out of the team, except only the ones been playing for long.
I still feel excited by the Ashes and World Cups. Other than that, I really don't care. Most of my friends think the same way, and hence you see the waning interest and viewer base.
