Finally Vishwaroopam is set to be released (hopefully soon) in Tamilnadu with some cuts after Kamal and Muslim groups opposed to the movie reached a settlement during the state-government brokered talks in Chennai. Kamal has said they have agreed to remove certain audio portions The multi-lingual film is already relased and running smoothly in other states including Kerala with a 25 per cent Muslim population, and Andhra, Karnataka, and may be abroad. Its Hindi version, Vishwaroop hit theatres in north India including UP/Bihar on Friday. So far none have objected to the movie even in the Muslim dominated cities such as Lucknow. Thousands of Tamils from TN have gone to Kerala and Karnataka to watch the movie.
Then why the ban in TN? Amma (J Jayalalitha) struck at Kamal. Per media reports, Kamal did not sell all the rights to Jaya TV for a lower price. That upset Amma who owns the channel remotely. Also Kamal supported P.Chidambaram as a PM candidate in a recent function also attended by DMK chief and PC. Amma is a bitter enemy of PC. And Amma has an eye on the PM post. What best to do? Ban the movie siting security. The censor board has given the ok for the movie in Tamil. The chairperson of the censor board Leela Samson came out and openly supported Kamal. The central I&B minister objected to the ban. Amma cited the 1955 act and stuck to the ban. Are we still using the rules of 1955? When do we come out to the 21st century?
Though I agree Vishwaroopam should have been released much earlier across India uncut without any editing, but Why is Kamal poking his nose in a place where he shouldn't.
Why supporting PC as PM.
Why not Narendra Modi as PM
or give an unbiased statement
Unless Kamal is himself planning to enter politics, he should stay away from taking political sides, at the eve of his movie's release..
Or maybe he wanted controversy to get more attention to his movie which eventually leads to more people viewing.. (now the whole world knows Vishwaroopam, which wouldn't have been possible without this controversy).
I am at loss to understand what the Islamic community has achieved by getting the movie ‘Vishawaroopam’ banned.
1) What anti-Islamic stuff does ‘Vishawaroopam’ show the audience that we already don't know about Islam? 
2) In other words, what difference does censor cuts in the movie do to change the image of Islam among movie viewers?
The audience is seeing live action around the world in regards to terrorism and acts of violence committed by the Islamists, every single day. It does not make any difference whether movies like Vishawaroopam are released or not.

Actually, they did prove a point, which I have mentioned a few times on CD. They proved that they rule India. Whether you wish or not, that is the reality. There was not even a squeak from a single important leader or MSM. All the regional parties and Kangress bend over backwards to gain their support. As regards BJP, they are chasing mirage. Lol. BJP would never get Muslim votes but they are so afraid that they would not take a principled stand. Vajpayee moron, in his quest for Muslim votes sanctioned thousands of Madrasas in UP and West Bengal. He appoinyed thousands of Urdu teachers and the result was still same for him.

Just watched it in Kerala during my trip to the state.
I doubt if it will become a commercial hit. It is a very mediocre movie.

Happened to watch this movie last night. I thought it to be a well made movie, except for the usual masala, albeit, not frequent. Highly graphic, although it portrays the reality of terrorism. Quite a number of back and forth introspection scenes which I think is unusual in most Indian movies. So, I have to wonder how many among the populace comprehended the twists and turns.
