For Jains, Diwäli marks the anniversary of the attainment of Moksha by Mahävir-swami in 527 BC. Lord Mahävir commenced his final discourse known as Uttarädhyayan, which lasted until the night of Diwäli. At midnight, his soul left his body and attained liberation, Moksha. Jains do tap, jaap, dhyan on this auspicious day of Mahavir Nirvana kalyanak.


With this New Year, let us hope to light up our internal lamps to awaken our inner vision by practicing the path preached by Lord Mahävir, with Right faith, Right knowledge, Right conduct and Right Tap.

I was expecting kajuatri,kaju roll, chorafali, mathiya, khakadiya along with new year wishes

Eating the same in India as I read your posts.
My cabin was flooded with all these sweets from our consultants / Sub cons etc...
However, Malaysia was the best I have seen with gift hampers (incl. wiskey, chocolates) during hari raya / chinese new year.
