@Zara_may: "Sacrifice for your children's future" What I mean to say that if you come here for your own career expecting the bright future of IT and assuming that things are competitive like London or Silicon Valley or New York or Bangluru then I don't think it is wise to have good expectation. As I said, careers specially IT or even MBA related (in your case) in Vancouver is quite fragile and we all are dependent on US / EU projects.
I have friends who have Mechanical engineering degrees from Hyderabad and are working as Mortgage specialist and all that unrelated career fields. (One thing that can sustain you in IT is Bol Bachchan. Our desis are good in that :) ) .
But I have seen Indian families who come here and couldn't find careers in their respective fields and realise that since their kids are in their early teens they (parents) decide to "sacrificing their own careers" and they take up any job so that they can sustain for their children's future.
Education in Canada is not what you and your children might be learning in England. Its little different but not similar to US or England schools . Correct me if I am wrong. But its the brand of Universities that makes the education prestigious then any other institution.

I don't agree with chittesh for his general comparison. For instance Major metro cities where 50% of Canadian population lives have pretty good infrastructure like transit, healthcare etc . Vancouver has trains coming in every 30 seconds and there are sites like dinehere.ca that has lot of reviews for restaurants that don't event exist in India. But yeah if you are a traditional person then don't expect perfection..here even dosa restaurants serve wine & non-veg and all that. And you can find most of the grocery where desi % in population is quite significant. So hunt for some desi areas where you can find desi retailer stores.

But remember just like you want to come here there are many individuals esp high net worth individuals, millionaires who also want to invest a vacation home here, people want to retire here, wants to roam in Voxwagon, Audis and Accuras so you can imagine that the cost of inflation will always be higher no matter how the economy swings and will be similar to any country which has the highest standard of living.

Want to recommend one website which will provide some more info ...settlement.org
Research on Vancouver and GTA ... Specific is Milton , Mississauga area for settling.
For schools you can refer to EQAO website...this provides some insight for the school rankings ,there is mixed opinion about school rating but at least this will be a good starting point .
Regarding housing ...I don,t think it is very cheap but with a reasonable good job you can get a decent place in kid friendly neighborhood. For housing and schools also see the website sussihomes.com
We got our PR card 2 yrs back but moved here just 2 months back .I went through the above websites to get more info .I am currently in Mississauga since it is convenient for my husband ( IT ) .I love the area ...it is safe kid friendly .Let me know if you want any specific info about Mississauga.

HI Zara
Having lived in both places I can assure that Canada is way better in terms of quality of life.
I lived in UK for 8 years and moved to US and now in Canada for the past 5 months-I was in a similar position as you are-I was due to get my PR in 4 months on HSMP route but did not wait for it and moved to USA-I never regretted my move even though I paid a heavy price financially.
Hated UK-cold damp weather-rains all the time and cramped houses.
The schools in Canada are way better-I have two girls 11 and 8 and they are doing good here.I have relatives all over the northern part of US and as some one mentioned in the previous discussions proximity to US is a huge plus point-we drive to US on some week ends and my kids really enjoy the long drives -In UK we were struggling to find places to visit-for me UK was a boring non happening place-Just my opinion though.

I lived in UK.
In short, a Canadian Passport fits well for a Desi than a British Passport
