Hello fellow CD's

Wanted your expert opinion on good residential area to move in and around Markham. I was looking to move to Markham but am not sure of which neighbourhood is relatively good from a family stay perspective.

I am hearing that Markham is relatively expensive so what would be a decent budget for a small townhouse/Semi detached house

Thanks in advance for all your inputs

Angus Glen is a nice area. Good schools in the neighbourhood..but then it is similarly priced as Richmond Hill. Richmond Hill has some great pockets too.

Area around Mount Joy, greensborough (with advantage of frequent public transit of all 4 kind (YRT, Go, TTC, Viva) and good schools , stoufeville hospital) can be considered. There are direct trains and buses to downtown. Also you may try area around Major Meckenzie Dr. These areas are bit outer part of Markham, Anything inside (union-ville, centennial, mark-ville, mcCowan or area between 407 and steeles) will be damn expensive, but you may get few for renting.

There is nothing 'decent' about the housing prices in Markham and Richmond Hill. There are condos coming up in these areas, you may give a heed to.

Thanks San-hugo and G13. Any idea on the budget for a freehold townhome in the areas you mentioned? also if you could let me know of similar areas in Richmond Hill it would be of great help

I like the area between Bayview / MajorMac and Leslie / Elgin Mills. Oakridges Morraine and the Tower Hill area are good too.

I would suggest go to www.mls.ca and filter down to these areas (there is a map zoom feature) and see the average prices for listings..

As of today - I expect it to be 400k+
