Thanks to the "secularism" of the Congress regime, which have ruled India for more than 55 of the last 65 years, one temple which has not received the importance it really deserves is the Brahadeeshwara or the Big Temple of Thanjavur (or Tanjore).
This temple was built by King Raja Raja Chola in just 6 years and completed in 1012 A.D. There is absolutely no other ancient architecture of such huge dimensions that still survives in India. It really belongs to all "Indians" whichever religion they belong and they can be proud of the same, for anyone could be a direct descendant of the King or the people who built the temple. The science and engineering that has gone into the construction is truly amazing.
But for the secular requirement of the Congress party, it can really replace Taj Mahal as a symbol of India's heritage.
