Well, I do not want to hurt anybody's feeling, but why everyone in a disguised form (I mean well almost every one like Senior desi, Junior Desi, BlueLobster, Desi blah....). We are here in a friendly group where we are trying to help eachother out. I have been visiting this site pretty regularly for last few months. I do not know the pros and cons...but, I really do not see any disadvantage in telling the world that I am Subrata. Are you guys afraid of revealing your identity?

Panda Bhai....

Canadian Desi is a platform for True Freedom of Expression....therefore, in my opinion you can always share your point of view EVEN WITHOUT Telling / Revealing your Identity...Plus...there are some personal reasons that you would not like to discuss your Immigration and Settlement programme with eveybody...like your Company Colleagues, your Bosses , your relatives till the process is complete....and I think that you should understand this...since it is long time consuming process...and the information given might be used against you in your career path or family relationship etc...

People on this board are NOT Afraid of revelaing their Identities....But I feel the reasons given above could suffice to that....;)

Anyway.....How does it matter whether somebody uses a \"Username\" or \"Real Name\" the purpose is to guide the forum in right direction.....and finally in my view that can happen without telling your Identity....or vise Versa....:)

Hope you will understand this....

Maverick...

This site is surely a friendly forum and I have been a regular visitor of this forum just to gain knowledge on immigration issues and pro and cons…. Desis’ views… opinions….. This forum is doing a great job with that regard. I really appreciate the guys working behind the scene to make it happen. (Thanks to Garvo Gujarati & others)

As far as disclosing identity goes… For me it does not make any sense asking member to reveal their identity and other details on the public forum. Most of them do not like to give out their identity without knowing the other person. Can you trust every friendly face you see on the street? I don’t think so…

Besides, we don’t know the kind of people visiting this public forum and how they use your personal information. Yes, when you are making personal friends you may give out name and details. And you can do the same even on this forum.

Come on Subrata Panda, there is no harm in keeping your “identity” for yourself if you don’t wish to give it out on a PUBLIC FORUM. Keep the healthy ‘CHURCHAS’ continue. Accept others as they are. As long as the forum is functioning the way it should be, being informative to others, serving you and me, helping desis, why do we need their name?

By the way, for inquisitive few, they can get some information about each person through their profile.

I have never gone on any chat lines, except once and I decided that would be the last time. See, I didn't know I shouldn't give out personal info, well I did, and there were some there that started making fun of my company name....etc. ofcourse I got upset and also had to shut them up, well when I mentioned to a few of my friends of what happened, they started chiding me for being foolish in giving pers. info. I was afraid the chat people might locate me and beat me up.

Since then, this is the 2nd time I've started charchaoing, and this is a clean, stable site. The moderators always keep everyone in check (in a subtle way) which I perceive as healthy.

Now this is repetition of Pramod Chopra's thread dated 13th May 2004. I do not know why we keep repeating the same query over again..??
