I have stayed in Ports hotel when i landed here in 2009 and i have recommended it to others as well. No frills is good for your day to day stuff. For any emergencies, Rabba Grocery right across is a 24 hours joint. Remember apartment cleaning is done weekly by Ports and for trash you need to dispose it yourself at the big bin within the parking lot. You can access that by using the stairs.

For internet, you need a cable wire and you are good to go. you dont need to pay to Ports.

A good hub for any information also is the library which is a 5 minute walk north.

There is an amazing ice cream parlor just opp the rabba grocery, dont forget to sample it. also in the whole street there are fish n chips joints. snugg harbour though just behind Ports is what you would like to go at. If you have any issues with alcohol, you can request them to prepare the fish minus the BEER batter.

To get desi food and grocery you need to access the intersection between dundas street east and hurontario street.

Some good joints are BBQ tonight, Desi Corner ( you can even pre-order for takeaway), DOSA palace..and buy stuff from DUNDAS INDIAN GROCERY and FATIMA GROCERY. just behind FATIMA grocery is a small mall which is also a hub for desi eatery.
