I realised that we immigrants settle for less in our career (college v/s university in this example), as we focus on settling down and getting a firm hold here.

I think it'll take us another 2 to 3 generations to break this cycle. The other option is to start our own companies and hire all Qualified persons and NOT based on the color of the skin.

For the original poster - please be careful many private colleges are a scam and I think they often prey on newcomers as well as less educated long-time Canadians who cannot discern that they are not offering a quality education. I know Everest College has been sued multiple times although I cannot find the article I am seraching for from a few years ago where one Ontarian successfully sued for inadequate education (they did not give what they advertised).
George Brown, Humber and others are publicly funded but they are not directly run by the government. Their credentials are more legitimate and can often be used toward degrees from Canadian Universities.
If you already have a degree a post-graduate certificate from a college can be useful in some fields, or if you are facing a barrier from not having "Canadian experience" but not all college certificates are worthwhile. It sounds like you are on the right track being very diligent before believing what any educational institution offers you about their product. My own brother is in college right now (Confederation College in Thunder Bay) and I feel his professor is misleading him into enrolling in a useless certificate just because they need more students to enroll.
Thanks freakoutguy, Meghal and other CD's for reply.....
Thank you Portia for reply of my post and advice.
Actually i am working full time right now and looking to change my carrier in some other field (if possible than looking for part-time study for a now).
regards
