From my very limited knowledge of macroeconomics, I can say that MMS has nothing to do with price of food/oil. In an open market, this a purely supply and demand scenario. The middle class in India is growing and generating more income and has more money to spend. This leads to increase in demand of basic necessities and hence to inflation. If we want to bring oil and food prices down, we should drive less, not buy new cars and not eat out that much. Or we should focus more energy on agriculture to produce more grains. If you want to stimulate economy, inflation is an unwanted consequence. (Any economics expert may correct me here)

The above statement in no way indicates my support to MMS.

I do not understand how can an educated man ever defend MMS? Well, Meghal’s veiled attempt to defend MMS is pathetic and laughable. Admitted that MMS does not control oil prices or that food prices are subject to international forces of supply and demand, but anti poor corrupt MMS could have controlled much of the price rise, which is killing poor in India. His attempt to bring in food security bill is even more weird and ironic and is one more attempt to fleece poor people and line his pockets from the loopholes in distribution of food grains scandal which would inevitably result and another Kalmadi would stand in court, assume responsibility and go to Jail for may be, 10% cut while Mr. and Mrs. 60% would enjoy power, lying in wait to inflict another blow to India.

MMS, in his tenure of 6 years as PM has not taken ANY step to control the price rise or provide energy security. For example, to favor RIL, Govt. intervened in fight between Ambani brothers and corrupted SC judge decided in favour of RIL. The consequence has been that since then none of the foreign companies have participated in Oil exploration right auction known as NELP thus negatively affecting India’s capability of producing oil. Recently RIL has admitted that it does not have technology to extract oil and gas from deep water and hence were forced to sell 30% stake to B. When Govt retroactively changed the rules of the game, that scared foreign companies with technology. MMS has done nothing to promote energy from Sun, when sunlight is abundant in India. He has no strategy and no desire to promote alternative sources of energy where China has taken long strides.

As regards food security, MMS and Kangress nationa employment guarantee scheme has been utter failure. Crores of rupees have gone to finance Kangress workers and that has fuelled inflation which is one of the highest in the world.

I guess I can write a thesis on MMS moron. The point I am making is that there are a few CDs who are Obama / MMs lovers who cannot see that the king is naked.

With my limited knowledge of political happenings in the country through news papers, magazines and tv channels it is not difficult to decipher what is happening.
When P. Chidambaram was the Finance Minister, we have news channels and the corporates conferring on him "Minister of the Year" award. This award was given at big functions where all the corporate bigwigs were in attendance. On what points he was selected as Minister of the Year? On what points some other ministers lost out on the award? God only knows. It is all big humbug and tip of the iceberg. Then we have the Budget presentation. In the interior pages in a few lines we find the tax write offs for the big corporates to the tune of lac crores. These are not additional taxes, but genuine tax dues supposed to be paid by the already profit making organisations. MMS and his government is shameless in not only not collecting the dues but laying these dues at the doors of the common man, through fuel price hikes and run the government.
The ordinary labourer, poor farmer, lower middle class or middle class do not have lobbyists in the Lok Sabha or Rajya Sabha to lobby on their behalf. So for his problems, he has to blame it on fate.

Can you tell me why Harper or McGuinty are not able to control oil and food prices in Canada, when Canada is one of the major producers of oil and wheat?

You are again trying to be ridiculous. I never said that MMS can control Oil or Wheat or for that matter any other commodity prices. The point is that what you do to alleviate the crisis and its impact on the ordinary populace.

I guess you expect other CD members to educate you on various issues without making any attempt to analyze the issue before posing a question. Defending MMS/Sonia and Kangress sems to be your favourite pastime.

Canada, by joining NAFTA under corrupt Mulroney, had auctioned off future of Canada to USA. I do not know how much he collected , if any, for that. Whatever the sum may be, it would be peanuts compared to booty collected by MMS/Sonia.

Canada still collects a good deal of Oil royalty. Had you done any research, you would know that many of the oil companies in Canada are owned by USA and China. All that Canada does is that it collects oil royalty and taxes profits, which supports the budget.

Canada’s oil exploration contracts attract companies from all over the world due to its transparacey unlike India where no foreign companies kept away due to GOI changing the rules after the facts. Further, Canada’s supreme court is not corrupted like India.

I am sure that Canada, though oil producing country, is far ahead in supporting alternate sources of energy compared to India.

Canada has not auctioned off its nuclear sovereignty to USA and not waived liability clause as has been done by MMS.

I am sure that all other CD members would agree with me that Canada has not seen the food price inflation of more than 15% for last several years.

As I said before, some people cannot see that their king is naked while he is parading naked before the world.

I believe any person with a conscious or value system cannot defend MMS. It is time for you to do some serious introspection.
