One thing to note. In Gulf you have cheap labour and people do all the chores for you.

Here you will have to do everything yourself .. cleaning, vacuuming, laundry etc.

So your social life and free time will be greatly affected.

There was an episode on OMni TV talking about such issues faced by Gulf women living here :)

The +ves of Canada. Free healthcare for PRs/citizens, stable country, good future for children, Free schooling and a country to which you can belong and become a citizen, hardly any discrimination. Unlike the Gulf.

Everything else I think would be better in the Gulf i.e. social life, things to do, earnings/savings, close to India, standard of living etc.

Hi Guyz!
I am in a situation & want suggestions / advise.

I have time till end'11 to re-enter canada & avoid risking PR status.

Currently I am busy establishing my business in UAE, my wife has a decent job going but the problem is my dad is all alone back in India and we are thinking of moving my Dad alongwith us when we move to Canada...

What are the requirements (financial & others) to sponsor one's parent under family PR and how much time does it take after applying ... can we file his application while being out of canada? and request the visa office for faster processing as a special case since my dad is dependent on me and if we move without him ... we will not be able to move out of canada for the next 2 yrs. atleast and this is what the problem is ...

As an option, if my wife moves to Canada and I stay back with my dad can I expect my PR to be renewed without meeting the PR residency requirements? Will the Canadian Embassy in UAE be able to assist me or do I have to contact Canadian Embassy in India?

I would appreciate receiving your advise and also references of some good immigration lawyers based either in UAE or in canada who can offer us proper and correct way of handling this issue.

Thanks in advance.

Sam Khan .. your post has nothing to do with comparison of Gulf vs Canada. I would create a seperate topic for this.

Parents' sponsor appears to be taking anywhere from 4 to 7 years from Delhi. No, you cannot sponsor while living outside of Canada.

Your PR status has no bearing on your wife's and vice versa. Therefore, if you do not meet the required residency requirements, you risk losing the PR status.

Mostly new immigrants are lured by the following:
1. FREE health care
2. FREE education

But they don't look on the other side of the word 'FREE'. Nothing is FREE in this world and IMO, FREE service always comes at the price of quality. In Canada we pay heavy health care tax as part of our income and the quality of health care is very poor. You wait months and months to get the treatment and sometimes people have to travel abroad to get the treatment as they can't wait. Most of the services like dental care, eye care and some medicines are not FREE. Now comes the education which is FREE until high school but technical subjects like Math,Science are very very poorly taught. There is no concept of home work. These things matter as your child has to compete with rest of the world students as we are living in this global village. I would say FREE health care and FREE education is totally misleading terms used to attract immigrants. Truly speaking, it is purely a marketing strategy.

As far as family sponsorship is concerned, forget about it. By the time you apply for it, it will be taking more than 7 years in total.

The Canada government is not intrested in more Brown imigrants anymore so it better that you stay in the gulf.
