Currently, most of the applications Work Permit extension end up with REFUSAL once they are delayed. Your employer need to obtain the positive Labour Market Opinion. ( Now it is MUST).

OP is in LMO exempted IT category so at this stage no need of LMO.

Very true my friend. Speaking is quiet different. But to encourage you, I know someone work permit holder's wife got job in call centre within month of landing in Montreal, and she was desi not british.

what did you mean by letter saying delaying in work permit? Does it that delay due to quality assurance purpose? If yes then on which date did you get letter and is there any update on interview or something?
