Any idea which school/college is best in GTA for a 'Health records administrator' or similar type of course?
My wife is thinking of doing it, she has a Bcom+MPM degree from India, Canadian work experience in customer serivce around 5 years.
I heard the course runs for 3 years.
Also what are the prospects of getting a decent job after passing the exam?
All the replies (positive/negative ) would be greatly appreciated.

Ask your wife to try to get an informational interview with head of medical records department of a hospital nearby. Ask them about the prospects and salary range, etc. I think George Brown has the course, may be now they changed the course name and now it is Health Information Management, call and ask them about the course, duration, whether it is full time, etc.? It is two years full time I think but better check with them. Then after passing exams, etc. she may qualify for positions as below:

* Coding and abstractign emergency charts, day surgery and inpatient.
* Enters abstracted information into Winrecs/Med2020 software system.
*
Maintains departmental performance standards for productivity and accuracy.

Evaluates CMG assignment.
*
Corrects errors from in-house QA reports and CIHI default reports.
*
Reviews charts for completion.
*
Runs monthly QA's.
*
Lifting, carrying, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, bending, climbing, filing and stretching, manual rotation of mobile shelving units are required in the job.

Qualifications
# Graduate from a recognized Health Information Management/Professional program.

# Proficient in Windows-based applications environment.
# Knowldge and skills in Crystal report writing (preferred)
