As indicated elsewhere, you might try testing (if already not in SAP) as it is a lot easier and has good oppertunities (but lower pay than SAP).
Hi,
I tend to disagree with some of the comments especially around jobs moving to India. The jobs that are moving there are implementation specific. As an SAP FICO you could do Real Time assessments, quality assurance, IT assessments, work for an audit organization that prepares 5970. These organizations look for individuals that are specialized in SAP especially SAP FICO.
As a recommendation please do not focus on implementation, you are narrowing your scope that will lead to few catches for you personally. I would suggest looking at the big 4 organizations. Accenture (SAP implementation as well as SAP assessments, specifications and requirements gathering analyst, functional specialist to name a few designations), Deloitte consulting, KPMG (audit firm and does a lot of work in SAP especially Real Time assessments, quality assurance and 5970's), and other organizations such as CGI consulting, Ernest and Young.
You need to broaden your scope and you will definitely find jobs as for TCS, yes it is a great firm and much cheaper than going with a big 4 organization, but their work has to be audited especially in the public sector and the big 4's do that. Probably the work is not really implementation specific but it uses a lot of your skillset just more advisory and strategy related.
All the best
Can somebody answer the question from r_sorout2004?
Even I am thinking of changing my Career to testing. As I am still in India we(I and my wife) are planning to learn testing as that might be useful to find a job in Canada.
Any suggestion or comments would be appreciated.
Hi,
This is a nice thread. My wife will be going on Maternity Leave next month and she was looking something to learn in this time she will be getting. We thought about SAP FICO as that would further her career especially since she has a Commerce / Accounting background (MCom from India).
She has worked for banks in India and currently working for a legal insurance claims firm.
Can someone recommend (provide guidance) some training etc for the same? How can she go about doing this so she can land a job with one of the Big 4 mentioned above?
Any help is appreciated.
Regards -Amit

I Agree. I work with a big 4 and am involved in the advisory activities with clients running SAP. SoD assessments, sensitive transactions, other audit verifications and analytics on business processes. You do not need implementation experience for this. Nor do you need deep skills in all modules. BW knowledge, SAP query and other data extract tools such as informatica, SaS are handy.
Continous controls monitoring is really catching up as well.
