Forget the soft skills. You did the common mistake desis do when they come here. They start looking for a job. dont do that. first thing is join the university. If you are b.com then do M.com and start preparing for CPA.
The only weapon you have here is a degree.
and not just any degree , a proper degree from a average university or certification board.
while studying you can work part ime in desi shops or as security guard for money till you finish your education.

You know you are a desi when ........ You spew forth the virtues of India, but don't want to live there...............You've never had a tanning salon membership
To OP
A point to keep in mind - I do not want to sound condescending, but I hope that you are doing a grammar check (in addition to spell check) when sending your cover letter and resume; and hope that you are speaking a grammatically correct English.
Your postings on CD do have grammatical errors. Normally, correct spelling and grammar are not an absolute requirement to post on this board, but they are a must in any business correspondence.
A smart hiring manager will sure be able to find such mistakes in a cover letter/resume and may be able determine your English language skills even without interviewing you.
Dont worry of language skills at least in CA * just look at the Chinese community * by doing a job you wont make money* reseller of garbage bag fax paper is not a bad idea* i did sell flyers* and sales is best in N America*
and never listen or bow down but
start making people listen to you
you wanted to be in the toughest market * so learn the rules
Get your citizenship and move down to America
* and pardon me for my drafting as I am doing it on my mobile using Opera mini and its stupid as they say down south

Canadian job market in accounting expects you to be CGA or similar from a "Canadian "college. Then you need to get local expereince 5-10 years - which is a another challenge. Local Canadians treat colleges as money grabbers as they can make same amount of money doing labor or trades like contruction worker etc. Sometimes the difference in earning after the education and thousands of dollarsspent is hardly 10-15% over labor jobs.So overall education not neccesarily brings the naticiapted money but more of satisfaction that you are in your field of work and gaining experience.
So I will suggest that while you do any survival job, enroll in college and get that degree. Only problem you face is how to cover for this gap/ lost time in your CV. But people understand the system here and local certified accountants are in good demand at least in BC as there are larger number of less educated people in this privince than ON.
