For Gujarati members who have read the original column in Chitralekha, do you think that the TV version is extremely bad?? I have seen few episode when I was in India and I wonder why it is so popular?

The character of Daya is extremely irritating - wonder what kind of accent does she speak with? All characters look pretty young that what you have envisioned when you read the column - especially the character of Champaklal who wears wig to look bald, but the producers forgot to add wrinkles to his skin. So he looks almost same age as his son.

Pathetic!!

we are enjoying watching this serial.

have anyone watching another "LAPTAGANJ" which is coming at 10.00 p.m. on same chanel.

I liked it as well its remember me like old serial "MALGUDI DAYS" of course not the same but little bit.

Tarak Mehta.... may not match up to the written version.
You are most likely to get dissappointed while watching a movie/serial after u have read the book. i tried with Da Vinci Code.
And no producers/director can match up to the imagination of the authors mind or what is in the book or the way it intrigues you. which has already been published. Books have their own charm.
I havent read the column , but it is one of the better serials and really funny to watch with the entire family !!!way far tooo good than the scheming ladies and holier-than-the-holy daughter in laws.

I watched this for first time when i went to visit India, couple of months back. Tarak Mehta Ka OOlta Chashma. I didn't like it in the begining because the characters are not too good, especially the lady with weird voce( sorry don't remember her name). But then I started feeling like its a good time pass atleast.
There are some other comedy series come on SAB Tv, really good one.

Now i am back from India, so do watch sometime online.
