Franklin Templeton Investments is currently looking for a Technical Architect-Infrastructure Engineering for our North York office.
Reporting to the VP Infrastructure Engineering, the Technical Architect is part of a global team composed of architects, system engineers, analysts and project managers responsible for strategy, architecture and engineering of Franklin Templeton Investments (FTI) computing infrastructure.
The Technical Architect is a senior and lead role and will be responsible for data center technologies such as server and storage that house critical business IT applications, and service delivery tools that increase operational agility, quality of services and improved cost transparency. The technical architect collaborates with all teams to define, promote and implement server and storage roadmaps as well as developing plans to adopt and implement new technology. This position plays a critical role in the communication and gaining buy-in across the IT organization and developing and measuring change impact.
This year and the next 2 to 3 years, , the architect will be involved in 2 data center migrations, optimizing and consolidating infrastructure through technology refresh and server virtualization, introducing and leveraging advance storage management, performance and data classification technologies, integrating tools and working towards an optimized, then automated service oriented and ultimately a pooled and adaptive infrastructure.
Establishes the vision, strategy and roadmaps that align with business strategies and priorities for storage and server infrastructure globally
Researches new technology and advancements to optimize computing resource performance, capacity and availability and establishes plans to evolve and continue maturing existing infrastructure from standardized, to automated, and then to automated services and adaptive infrastructure
As part of a community of architects, drives innovation to meet unmet business needs; taking an idea through the stages of innovation and adoption
Plans and conducts new technology evaluations to determine infrastructure solutions based on business requirements and makes recommendations for improvement of infrastructure, technology, operational capability, reliability and performance
Defines and maintains technology standards
Partners with key vendors to influence future product requirements and enhancements to address business needs
Closely collaborates with application architect peers on application architecture, solutions and approaches and aligning both application architecture and infrastructure roadmaps
Works very closely with other infrastructure groups (Data Center Operations, Information Security, Communications Infrastructure) in execution of technology proof of concepts, pilots and the technology adoption lifecycle
Performs ROI and other cost-benefit analysis of new strategies and technologies
Leads large and transformational infrastructure project implementations ensuring engineers can fully leverage the technology for future solutions and designs as well as successfully building the skills in the organization to enable a successful transition of the day to day management and operations of the infrastructure and technology
Creates and presents complex architectures and solutions to Sr management to gain buy-in and approvals
Candidate must have proven track record in performing in the responsibilities outlined and successful delivery and implementation of architectural solutions
As the qualified candidate you possess:
B.S. Computer Science or equivalent experience preferred
At least 10 years experience in an engineering role and 5 years as an infrastructure technical architect in multiple large scale data centers
Possible local and North American travel
