Hi Guys,
This is my first post in this forum. Need a suggestion from you guys. To do a MBA program at Seneca, Canada. Any advises? Is it worth doing there? and Job opportunities in Canada for an MBA.??
I have about 3 years of work experience in IT (in the UK and India) and have a Engineering degree. I would like to Complete my MBA in canada.
Please suggest me in case there are better colleges for tutition fees around
(CAD 12000 to 150000)
Cheers
Srini.
Hi Srini,
If you're in IT and have a considerable work experience in this field, then why don't you come to Canada on PR(Permanent Residence) visa. You can then opt for the MBA from Seneca or any other Institution. Other CDs could further provide you the info. on Seneca's MBA. But, the route I advised will ensure you won't end up paying 2 times the tution fee as an International Student. If you're a PR then you will only pay the tution fee as a Canadian resident, which is almost half of what International students pay. This way, you will also have a chance to apply to the fundings such as Bursaries and Student grants, loans etc.
Now, how you perceive Canadian PR visa is all upto you considering initial struggle that could take a toll on any individual. But, if you only want to study then it's the route worth giving your heads up. This will also maximise your employability in Canada.
As for the job opportunities for an MBA, it all depands upon your personality and attitude. Why I said this, is because MBA is a highly speciailised field and employers want one to be a dynamic and smart individual alongwith an effective leader with a vast pool of knowledge. So, it all boils down to your own knowledge and how dynamic/outgoing you are. There's always jobs available for MBAs coming out from Cdn. Institutions.
However, currently the job market is not that great and don't see it promising in another 2 years. However, if in case you enroll now for a 1.5 - 2 years MBA, I think by the time you come out of the program the economic conditions could improve.
Think about it and research to the max.
Thanks.
Many thanks for that febpreet.
Is it possible to get a PR before getting a job there? Can u help?
Had a quick look...
Education =25
Exp = 19
IELTS = 10(Say ..out of 16)
Age = 10
Total =64
How to get the rest 3 points required any suggestions?
Thanks,
Srini
I am not sure in your case how to reach at 67 without having any relative or arrangement employment in Canada. But, if you can show your English language proficiency score more than 12 then it's possible indeed. I believe, the English skills are evaluated by IELTS results. So, IELTS is your only key here. Alternatively, wait for another year until you gain a total of 4 years of work experience. This would enhance your score as well. But who knows what it might be in another 1 year.
Also, please consider the time period it might take to get your PR. I don't know what the current timeline is, but it took me 4 years in 2004. So, whatever you plan is, it has to be done accordingly. Please also take into account all the pros and cons of immigration. This site and the past forum topics should help you in a great deal.
Hope it helps.
