My advise to you since you already have masters from a reputed institute and also 5 years experience and if you do not wish to commit 1-2 years of study due to financial crunches, there is another way out for you. Get certification etc done and join co-op programme fo 2 months and work voluntarily with big organisation for 3 months, which will enable you to get canadian experience and reference and you are committed only for 5 months, which is worth.

If you study further, it certainly will not only add to your knowledge but also you will benefit from canadian education and you will be able to join such organisation whereby Govt will contribute alongwith organisation to your salalry when you are student.

I think a Canadian education is very imp. First, it increases your network.. which is key to finding a good job. Second, employers feel more confident when you have a degree/diploma they can relate to and around which they know what the standards are. Employers don't understand how valid/ relevant/ authentic/reliable your foreign qualification is and would prefer to take someone they feel has less "alien" qualifications over yours. Third, it gives you a chance to learn "soft skills" associated with the trade you are seeking to enter.

Well, I am new on this forum and 1 yr old in Canada, recently I relocated to GTA.

There are many Job search centers in Toronto, many counselors talk about Canadian education, but personally i feel it's not going to make significant difference unless i get education in licensed field or a Technical field

I did my masters in marketing from India(from one of the best schools) and I know it's hard to get a professional job in marketing area because I am not white and I don't have Canadian accent

But if i go for a 1 yr course from like George/Seneca college etc, will it make any difference, My total work experience is 5 years

What you guys feel !

Looking to make new friends here, I speak Hindi/English and I am originally from Goa, India:w

Mainatinence jobs in Canada and USA do not require an engineering degree unlike in India. Usually technicians et promoted to Managers. So if you are an engineer from India it is better for you to do Post Grad in Engineering.

I am asking this since I saw a vacany of maintenace & engg manager in an Industry, ( I hold such a position in the middle east currently). But the pre requisite was that the person should have License in any of the electrician/mechanic/millwright trades and five years experience.
If so what is the procedure to get certified
