Hi guys
I am planning to buy a TH in Scarborough. I have a budget of 300k and Scarborough seems to be the only place where i can find a 3 bed TH in my budget .
Being in only 2 yrs old in Canada , I do not know the areas well . I have only heard that Scarborough is THE place to avoid .
I have a 11 yr old daughter who will have to travel from school on her own next year , hence my worries .....
so you veterans out there please please help me to understand where in Scarborough i can buy a house or should i avoid it totally .
i work downtown , hubby in dufferin and finch and daughter goes to school at don mills and Shepard (catholic extended French) . so Scarborough seems good .
please help ,already got the mortgage rate locked in . The clock is ticking ......
thanks everyone
I always know i can find honest to god advise here on CD

Hi Jenny,
Good areas in scarborough are around Finch line and Mccowan Rd. Morning side is also not bad either. Port union is a very good area with a direct Gostation line.
I would avoid the areas around jane and steeles, Eglinton and kennedy(for the reasons of cleanliness).
Good luck.

If your daughter is going to School near Don Mills and Sheppard, why dont you look along Don Mills going Nortth to Steeles? You will be very close to the Sheppard subway and your daughters school. You will be able to find townhomes within 300K in this area. The only hitch is that there are no freehold THs, almost all are condo TH.
Here are some listings that I picked randomly from MLS

You can find a good TH in Mississauga withhin your budget.
Avoid Scarborough at all costs it's soon becoming the Harlem of Toronto.
