The situation is really BAD in the IT sector. The guy who had leased my house in Bangalore and who worked for WIPRO lost his job. He is going to do some freelancing for MS. The lady who leased my brother's apartment in Whitefield near the IT park also got the pink slip.
In the sectors you are talking about the hiring is quite slow. Many are getting interviews but decisions are not been taken. The best option is make a trip to India, stay in Mumbai and visit all the headhunters like Datamatics, Mafoi, Shilpusthi and many others who are in the Financial sector and pass on your resume and try to jump start discussions. In the current environment I doubt whether the naukri way will be the right way ?.
The problem in the Indian market is that unlike the West and EU, there is plenty of orders but no Liquidity in the market. The credit is not flowing and hence the overall slowdown. The expectations is that the market is expected to pickup in the second half of this year.
NOTE: The salary structure has taken a sharp fall and unlike before where people who talked about C's are talking L's only. Be prepared to take a sharp drop in the salaries unlike last year(s).
Good Luck !.
