Interested in buying Laptop for personal use preferably with Intel core to Duo processor.

Can someone please clarify the difference between the followings:

2. Dual Layer DVD+/-R/RW With DVD-RAM and 8X Super Multi Dual Layer DVD

3. Graphic chipset - Mobile Intel GM45 Express Chipset and Intel GMA X4500M

1. Intel Core 2 Duo Processor T5800 and Intel Centrino Core 2 Duo T5800 processor

First is higher end compared to the second. Also means more efficiency and more $$. For regular home computing, you may not feel the difference. If you use memory intensive apps or games, it may be worth the $.

2. Dual Layer DVD+/-R/RW With DVD-RAM and 8X Super Multi Dual Layer DVD

You can burn DVD's in the first.

3. Graphic chipset - Mobile Intel GM45 Express Chipset and Intel GMA X4500M

Not sure of these particular ones. Generally the more expensive ones are for gaming, video editing etc.

4. Make Toshiba or Sony

First is cheaper, uses standard tech... Sony is more cutting edge, lt weight and expensive.

Thanks viggy,

With you on Sony and as it has better technology and will go with Sony

Which should I go for out of the following two

Bestbuy and Future shop both are offering following Sony models at $799

Bestbuy
Sony VAIO 15.4" Laptop featuring Intel Core 2 Duo Processor T5800 (VGNNS140DW)
http://www.bestbuy.ca/catalog/proddetail.asp?logon=&langid=EN&sku_id=0926INGFS10112736&catid=25253

Futureshop
Sony 15.4" VAIO Intel Core 2 Duo T5800 2.0GHz Laptop (VGNNS150DS)
http://www.futureshop.ca/catalog/proddetail.asp?logon=&langid=EN&sku_id=0665000FS10113319&catid=

The difference I could make between these, one has 3 GB RAM and other is having 4 GB RAM, one has 8X Dual Layer DVD+/-R/RW With DVDRAM and other has Dual Layer DVD+/-R/RW With DVD-RAM

1.What is the difference Card Reader - Compatible Memory Types -SD/MMC/MS/MS PRO/xD and MS Pro/MS Pro Duo/SD

2. What is HDCP Compliant?
3. What is HDMI port?
4. Difference between Modem - High Speed 56K and V.92/V.90 (RJ-11)

Thanks
