As most of us change jobs frequently, so want to one important information

When some one is trying for new job & new employer request potential employee to submit CONSENT form

That form has two options:
1. Are you working right now, YES or NO
2. If yes, where or name of company

If one has to select option 2

then it comes to another 2 options like
1. Can we contact your employer
2. Do not contact my employer

So if someone is working and has a good relations with existing employee
but not comfortable in allowing new potential employer to contact existing employer, what he can do?

Can he select, \"Do not contact my existing employee\"

Will that go against candidate?
If yes, what are other options?

Can he request new potential employer to contact existing employer only when 'Job Offer is Accepted'

Need few suggestion
Thanks

I would provide the name of the company.

There are times when u may not want the new employer to contact ur current employer - if it is a lateral move you are going to make, if you have recently started this job(the current one) or it would be a reason for ur current boss to doubt you (if you dont get the new job)

Then I think its OK to say "NO" to contacting current employer.

Most employers understand .

However if the job is a career move, higher salary/responsibilities etc, then I would tell them to go ahead and contact ur current employer.

Ps - changing jobs very frequently (unless u are changing each one for a higher paying/higher responsibility/higher level) could be detrimental to your career.

I think 4-5 years in one job min. shows stability otherwise employers wonder why the person 'job hops". Though im not sure about the IT field.
