We are a family of 4. Our 2 kids aged 4 and 5 are going to LKG and UKG respectively.I am a network administrator and my wife runs a playschool. We are planning to immigrate but we are not sure if we are making the right choice, specially with regards to the kids education and job opportunity for my wife and myself. We would be grateful if anyone could help us by writing about schooling in Canada as compared to India. We have absolutely no idea about the curriculum etc about schools there. will it be a wise choice to immigrate now or should we wait and immigrate when the kids are older or not immigrate at all.

Thanks in anticipation

Aaron,
It really depends on what you are looking for from an education. There are some forum members who think the education system sucks and prefer the Indian system while some others like me who think exactly the opposite. I guess you have to decide where you fit in .
Here are a few posts from people who like the system here and the reasons they like it.

You will also see some posts wherin people say that the focus on academics as in India is the correct way to go.

If I was in your position(have a 5 yr old and a 3yr old)... I would have no hesitation to migrate when the kids are small since I like the education system here. However, you have to take a lot of other factors into consideration. I would suggest that you read the different experiences people have posted on this board and then decide for yourself since nobody else can do that for you.

Jake3d,

Thanks a lot for the quick reply. We will definitely go through the posts that U sent. I have been reading the postings on the site and i feel a bit discouraged specially with regards to job availability in my field of work. Is it really true that people have to take up alternative jobs (sometimes even for years) till they get a position in their own field. What about a clause called arranged employement that is there in the immigration form ? I thought that if i applied online to job sites and with online interviews i could secure a decent job.

Yes it is true that people have to take up alternative jobs( I had to for 2 yrs). This is true not only for immigrants but for a lot of North Americans in todays economy and in that sense the situation is different from that in places like India( atleast from what I remember ).
Its a good Idea to try to secure a job of your liking before you come here if the possibility of taking up an alternative job scares you. However, you may want to remember that there is nothing called job security . I actually think of that as a good thing :D . Keeps me from getting complacent. On the other hand, Its not for everybody.
