Every western film's portrayal of India has to include the customary shot of people bathing in the river in Banaras.
There's nothing wrong with that, but it annoys me when people here ask me if the country is really really crowded like they see on tv and if all people bath like that in the nearest body of water. Shot after shot of rural/underdeveloped cities just strengthens the stereotype that all of India is backward, and that *really* bugs me.
I hope they show off the metropolitans like Mumbai, Delhi, and at least Ahmedebad (cuz I'm from there ;-)
I agree with you EecheE. I have same feeling that why people just show poor people and villages with dust from India. There are few famous (??) Indians like Mira Nair and Deepa Mehta are doing such stuff.
I just saw this movie - India - the Kingdom of Tiger, and it is really nice one. Nothing of the sort you have assumed just beacuse of the poster.
It is story about Jim Corbett, who was born and lived in India. The time is around 1910. And in the later part of the movie, they are showing recent India with all you asked for - Bombay, Delhi, South India, Cars, Schooters, Disco Dance, Kattak Dance, Garba etc.
Everything, but no poorty, no dirty roads, nothing that can hurt us!
I was glad to see that. Interestingly it is produced by Indian Origin person who never visited India before!
