Those who have satellite dish installed , are they able to view desi channels these days ?

In March / April , somebody told me that FTA channels were no longer available through receivers and was a thing of the past .... wondering if they have come back or are still in accessible .....

I wished to get rid of Rogers cable and was thinking of cheaper options -- has anyone tried using portable TV antennae ( from Canadian Tire etc ) to get local Canadian FTA channels ?

i recently got a HD antenna for 25 bucks from a computer store on Kennedy rd, scarborough. Works perfect, i get about 10 free canadian channels by pointing to CN tower.

I think you are confusing the topic.

You have an HD antennae to catch Free HD channels from Canada (and possibly USA) for which you need an HD TV with ATSC tuner or then you need to purchase an HD tuner.

Satellite dishes channels for people getting *cough* black market *cough* FTA channels are currently blocked due to Nagra 3 (a new encryption).

Desi channels are not working on FTA. Only english are.

BTW i am curious how the originator has a satellite in a condo? if its inside the condo, i guess that explains the signal loss
