Since I moved to mississauga, I found more and more Canadian Stores are catering more to South Asian Community.
Today, I was totally amazed when I saw Nanak Rasmalia ($8.75 for 10) and Nanak Paneer ($1.75Kg @ 17.00) at Costco. I could not believe it when my wife showed it to me.
Since last many months, I have been shoping at No Frills for basic Indian spices needs. The No Frills near to my house is selling All Quality Brand Spices, Lintels (or Pulses we say), Haldiram Namkin, Haldiram Sohan Papri, Quality Pani Puri and much more. I have stopped going to Indian Stores. Couple of stores those were opened last year have already closed their shops.
Moreover, the Canadian Brand Stores are cheaper than Indian Stores. Loblaws at Credit View and Britannia has a Desi Corner. They named it "Desi Corner" and on various occassions bring sale for Desi community.
It is amazing, seven years ago when I landed here, I have to go (on bus as I did not have car) to buy Indian stuff but now everything has changed.
I've found the Haldiram's snacks at No Frills in Agincourt mall in Scarborough, and some Indian stuff at the new Costco in Markham.
Yes, things have changed. They wern't the same in the mid 90's.

i was pleasantly surprised as well. i love nanak products, however costco does not carry the full range. i just love the nanak paneer entrees as well, they are only available at the indian stores.
