You think showing affection towards a child is normal behaviour? Think again, if you forcibly kiss your child it is deemed as a form of sexual abuse. What do you think?

I cant help but LOL after reading this 'article'.

But this is a serious issue hence, my 2 cents :

1. Does a child between 5-12 know the difference between affectionate kiss and sexual harrasment? Who and how were the statistics recorded?

2. Does a innocent (affectionate) kiss (not kisses) on the cheek amount to "sexual" harrasment?

3. Just need to look deeper into the report - who prepared, for whom and why? Most of the surveys are privately funded and aimed at promoting some kind of service or product...

The point is, how to differentiate the a kiss out of affection and a KISS. I know there are kids who don’t like their parents kissing them on cheek. I remember some of my cousins wiping the cheek off their sleeves after some relative kisses them, clearly not of their liking. When I ask my son for a good night kiss, he would show his forehead, clearly he has dislike for kisses on cheek too. Now the question is when do we stop kissing on cheek and start respecting childs reaction to it? A 7 year old doesn’t like to be kissed on cheek, but forehead is OK is different from a 13 years old not liking a kiss from parent at all. My 7 year old wouldn’t let you even kiss his forehead in front of classmates. But branding all the kisses as sexual abuse is going too far. There are shades of gray here. But in the end, I feel we should respect childs wishes, a 5 year old or 13. If not it could mount as abuse, sexual or otherwise. That is my 2 cents.
