I was wondering if those of you in a similar position might be able to provide some input...

Since H1s are out, is it possible to be in a consulting job on a B1 and travel to the States?

Is this even legal to travel to client sites? Will the visa officer create problems if he/she sees several stamps on the passport?


If there are others who've been through this, your input would be very helpful...

If you are getting paid by a US employer (consulting or not), what would be your status, certainly B1 is not going to cut it. If you have a Cdn incorporated organization to which the consulting fee you charge is going into, you may be able to do it. Finance/Accounting/Tax gurus can elaborate more.

Is B1 for business visitors (I think so, isn't it, as opposed to B2??). Anyway, as a business visitor, sure you can visit US any number of times. However, you cannot state you are going to US to work.

This would be for a Canadian employer. Yes, it would also be the business (B2?) visa. But even on a B2 there aren't there limits on the number of days you can enter the U.S. per year?

I'm not sure whether this is even allowed...
